What does Wal-Mart know that the rest of us don’t?
The News Herald reports that Wal-Mart will so be re-opening it’s abandoned 23rd street location…AND they are planning a new location on Panama City Beach! So what does this have to do with selling your house?
Well, directly, nothing. But indirectly, it means quite a bit. Big companies like Wal-Mart spend lot of money doing market research and investment projections. If they are willing to make the investment to open two more stores in Bay County, that means that they see a bright future for our area. And they are willing to stake big money on that vision.
I think this is a great development. The stores themselves will spur some economic activity, providing badly needed jobs to our local economy. But the bigger picture is that the brains in Bentonville expect Bay County to continue to grow and expand, providing them with a growing stream of customers.
More house buyers in Bay County!
Those employees and customers all have to live somewhere! The growth that Wal-Mart sees means jobs, people, and economic activity for Panama City and Panama City Beach. That all good news for our anemic housing market.
